The Alhambra Quatrefoils

Congratulations to the Chic Coles! This is our 100th post!!

I have been wanting to do a post on quatrefoils for a while now. I just love the furniture by Suzanne Kasler for Hickory Chair. She uses the quatrefoil geometric pattern on chairs and on dressers and mirrors. I knew Van Cleef & Aprels made a beautiful necklace with mother of pearl in the Alhambra motif . However, what I did not know is that they make a stunning Charms timepiece watch that actually has a quatrefoil charm attached to it. This watch was designed to attract the beauty of time. This motif was inspired by The Alhambra. It is supposed to offer the wearer luck and happiness. Well, when I read that the watch was designed after the motif found at The Alhambra, I was so excited because I had been wanting to do a post on the beautiful castle!

The Alhambra is located in Granada, Spain. It dates back to 1338-1390. It was the residence of the Moorish kings at the time. The style of the castle is Moorish and it it has a beautiful collection of buildings and gardens. They used geometric patterns in their design work in the castle. The quatrefoils were one of these geometric patters. The Moors were exquisite tile and ceramic artisans. These images are of the beautiful buildings and grounds of the Alhambra. Some day we hope to visit this amazing castle!

Furniture with the quatrefoil motif. Love the washed blue walls with the white chest and dark wood mirror.
Beautiful room by Suzanne Kasler with her wonderful Quatrefoil chair. The soothing colors in this room are so inviting. Love the large white stripe on the sofa.
Another image of the Suzanne Kasler chairs. The raw silk on the chairs is so beautiful.
