Kindred Spirits-The Chic Coles by Live Creating Yourself

The Chic Coles wanted to thank Alaina of Live Creating Yourself for featuring us on her "Kindred Spirits: Countdown to Christmas" series. She worked extremely hard to put this together and the whole series was wonderful! We got to learn more about our fellow bloggers and meet some new ones too! It was so thoughtful of Alaina to include us in the series and we wanted to share with you what she put together for us!

And the LAST day 'til Christmas, we meet Melissa of Chic Coles:
Last but certainly not least, I'd like to introduce you to the Cole gals of Chic Coles, a mother and two daughters located all around the country (CT, CA, and LA). The Coles were the first to make me feel officially part of the blogosphere; they were the first fellow bloggers to comment at LCY, they awarded me two of the blogger awards you see in the left-hand-column, added me to their blog roll, and for all these things, I want to "thank you." Who knows if I'd still be blogging without the hope they gave me back when I thought my mom and boyfriend were my only readers. They are a thoughtful, talented (check out their interior design portfolio here), and stylish group, and I wish all of them a Merry Christmas! And thank you to Melissa - a Cole gal living in New Orleans - who took the time to fill out the Kindred Spirit survey. Enjoy the fondu! Hopefully we'll get to see pictures of your tree!

1. My home isn't decorated for the holidays until...
we are all home together. We have a tradition of eating a fondu dinner while we decorate the Christmas tree.

2. My holiday spirit soars when I hear the song...

in all honesty, I like any of the Taylor Swift/Britney Spears/Mariah Carey Christmas music.
*editor's note: none of these artists' Christmas songs were available on Lala. So sorry!

3. If I had to be anywhere but home on Christmas, it would be...
with my very good friends in New Orleans.

4. My favorite Chic Coles holiday blog post was...
the "Holiday Advent Calendar" post. I am obsessed with advent calendars and I love the pictures we found!

5. My favorite non-Chic Coles holiday blog post was...
the House of Turquoise's "Turquoise Holiday Decor" post where she featured turquoise inspired holiday decorations. It is such a chic look that it is my favorite!

6. The number one gift on my wish list this year is...

Thanks Alaina!

Back to Back Sofas

Back to Back Sofas are very unique and are a great way to use a space. You can use two separate sofas or buy a conjoined sofa. The only problem you will face if you buy a sofa that has the two sides conjoined is if it will fit through the doorway. In apartments and smaller houses, the two sofas will have to be brought in separately. This offers the same feel and an easier option. This design elements also creates multiple seating areas in a large space. By creating these multiple seating areas, it allows creativity in the accessories in each of these spaces. Whether you include the same coffee tables and accessories on each side or choose to use different accessories, it is fun to use pieces that help tie both sides of the room together. Adding a console table with lamps in between the two sofas is also a great design element and is a way to add depth and light to the middle of the room.

Christmas Living Room

We love this living room. The brilliance of the slip covered white sofa with the blue toile chairs is just great. This living room is so much like a boat with a swedish influence. When I first graduated from college, I lived on a sail boat in Boston Harbor at the renovated Charlestown Navy shipyard. It was a great experience to be able to live on the water and still work in the city. So of course, whenever I look at an interior like this it reminds me of that time of living on the boat. I love interiors of boats, all the inlay teak and holly flooring, the lanterns, port hole windows and bunk beds and of course all the blue and white fabrics on pillows and cushions and the crisp white sails. Hope every has a great weekend, you know what next week is!

Holiday Flowers

There is something so special about Holiday flowers. The colors and fragrance they give off. They just make a room come alive. It is amazing to see how they can transform a room. Growing up my mother would always start her Christmas bulbs a couple of weeks after Halloween and they would be ready in full bloom for Christmas. Cassandra called to say her paper whites were blooming and how wonderful they looked and smelled. We always have a special center piece arrangement on the dining room table. Flowers are a special way to add to your festive decor.

Christmas Packages!

We hope you guys get gifts under your tree that look as beautiful as these! I have yet to wrap my Christmas presents, but I definitely want to have a theme - turquoise, silver, sage green. We will have to see what I end up with! Have you guys wrapped your gifts in any color themes?

Hurricane Lamps

Hurricane lamps are another design element I am obsessed with. I have two of them on my bedside tables and on my mantle above my fireplace. I love filling them with sea glass and a candle, I think it really adds a lot of femininity and sophistication to a room. During the holiday season however, I love when hurricane lamps are filled with different colored christmas ornaments.
