The Shop-NYC

The Shop invited Melissa and I to come and have a chat and a little lunch with them.  Of course we were thrilled to except their invitation.  The shop is the home to Mariette Himez Gomez.  It is where she opens her wonderful designs to the public in an 8500 square foot warehouse with a white washed ceiling and wide plank floors. It is an amazing space that showcases her private collection and furnishing collections, period pieces of furniture as well as her own photographs and books.  Dominick Rotondi runs the shop and is Mariette's right hand man. He has been with her for 18 years. He oversees everything at the shop. Every detail is important to him. Customer service is number one! When we met with him at the shop he had just returned from a second check up on a custom table being made in NY. He pays attention to every little detail. *Fun fact Mariette likes odd numbers and Dominick likes even numbers. They make a great team.
The store is located at 504 East 74th St. New York.

Hand blown christmas ornaments hang in the shop windows for Christmas.  The shop had six different ornaments boxed for the holidays and were absolutely stunning!
Mariette has a wonderful furniture line with Hickory Chair.  She has a resource room at The Shop devoted to Hickory Chair with fabric, wood finish samples and some samples of furniture.
Lamps from the Private collection.
The Dee sofa, a tufted kidney sofa and beautiful gold Paris mirror are on the set of Ugly Betty in Willomina's house! Fun right?
Collection of Hickory Chair furniture line, Private collection, accessories designed by Mariette along with her antiques and one of a kind pieces collected around the word.
Upstairs Mariette has her own design studio and show room.
Mariette and her beautiful and talented daughter Brooke. Brooke designs with Mariette.
Damien Hirst in the reception of Mariette's design offices on the second floor of the shop.

Charles Edwards Lanterns hang in the amazing gallery space of The Shop.
Mareitte photographs available for sale at The Shop and through Soicher Marin.

Pair of English 1890 bookshelf  Doors. With assorted books mounted in place.
The Coffee Table Chair. It was so comfortable!
Tears of the Irish mirror, made with real crystals.
Mariette in her Beautiful office.
Color theory disciplines in needle point.
Book shelves with Mariette's two books: Rooms and Houses. The third book in the series is due out at the end of the month, called Apartments.

When you call in with a question or order this is the staff on the other end of the phone or emails.
Jennifer , Dominick, Donna
Thank you so much to Mariette and Dominick for such a lovely lunch and visit!
We also did a post on Mariette Himes Gomez when we visited her Hickory Chair collection at High Point.  Click here.
