A Cozy Den on Marthas Vineyard

These rooms are from the designers show house on Martha Vineyard.  It is an 1840 Captains House called the Thomas Mellen and is located on Main Street in Edgartown.  It is a designer show house whose donations supported Habitat for Humanity. This cozy little den is designed by an Island decorator Mary Rentschler.  She used a large wallpaper print from Osborn and Little and is a Nina Campbell design. The furniture is large in scale than would not be expected for the room. Using this larger scale makes a small room grow in size. The idea was to make the room more open. We just love the gray and yellow wallpaper and the orange bar area. The half shutter windows are less fussy than window curtains that would take up a lot of room in the small space. The double round mirror are also so fun. There is nothing better than a cozy den for reading, writing letters or a drink in the evening watching TV.

I love a cozy den (in the winter with a roaring fire), but what i really love is the oh so warm & friendly & light & airy & welcoming chic Coles abode!
Saw your home over at Material Girls. What a well-deserved compliment. Love those fiddle-leaf figs too! Headed over to your shop now...

Love the shutters! How great would it be to be sitting in a Martha's Vineyard cottage right now?
