Kitchen lighting

One of the projects we are working on is a kitchen make over. The house we are working on dates to 1880 and needed to be totally rewired. That has been accomplished and she has all new wiring throughout the house. New window were installed first, and then the electric was worked on. Now the ceiling in the kitchen was a little soft so we had the plaster and lat taken out so that the new wiring could go in. The new boxes went in and the sheet rock is back up. The third layer of mud has been applied and now the ceiling is ready for paint. Once that is done the lighting will go in. So the reason for this post is to decide on lighting. Should we use pendent lighting all through (there are five lights in total), or use pendent lighting over the kitchen table and flush mount in other areas? We think using only flush mount would be a little mundane and dare we say...boring. So this is one of many questions being asked with this fun project.
Here are the interior images of the kitchen

...and here are some really fun interiors with great lighting options!

I adore pendant lighting and there are so many great choices right now-like the jewelry of the room. Can't wait to see the finished product!

I'm excited to see how your project ends up. With so many fabulous lighting choices out there, it must be so hard to choose!

Look like a fun project! Pendant light or lanterns are great for kitchens. Is that pendant from Home Depot? I think I used the same for a staging project.
