Bee Cottage

Frances Schultz's transformation of her cottage in East Hampton NY is an inspiration to watch. The cottage was a complete blank slate to work with. She gives a few hints on decorating the cottage that are so helpful that we would like to try. Frances uses wall to wall carpeting to make the rooms look calmer and cozier. The height of the ceilings are low and angled, and her answer to this problem is to use mirrors, furniture with height, pictured frames mounted all the way to the ceiling, and tall lamps. A half-canopy is used in the master bedroom to camouflage a low angled ceiling. She uses bright, bold and graphic wallpaper in the sun room to give the room a statement. The paper is warm and sunny, she says "The more you put in a small room, the bigger it appears (to a point)."

We are so excited about this transformation.Looking forward to next update.

Wow- I love the sunroom wallpaper and the canopy idea in the bedroom. The canopy really draws your eye up, and you forget about the sloped ceiling. great post!
