Kuhl Linscomb Picks

When my mom was in Houston visiting me, back in early November,
we did a lot of exploring...one of our favorite spots we discovered was
Kuhl Linscomb, a home goods store that spans over 70,000 square feet
and in 5 buildings, houses anything and everything one might need for their home.
My favorite items they were selling were the Lafco Candles (I took home a Duchess Peony -
the glass is Portuguese blown glass and can be used long after the candle is all burned)
and the Dhurrie area rugs in beautiful geometric patterns.
It was safe to say, mom and I got lost among the gorgeous items!

Christmas Styling

Deck the Halls with evergreen everywhere!
What a wonderful time of year to be able to bring all of this fresh evergreen
into the house on staircases, mantels, the Christmas tree, wreaths, throughout the house.
The senses are filled with the scents of Christmas, all the fresh fur balsam.
We cannot wait to get decorating for the season!

Graham Cracker Pie Crust

One of the best parts of Thanksgiving for us is getting together and baking. With our star Leslie in the kitchen, we usually let her take the reins. We turn the music up loud and dance around, Dad popping his head in once and a while.

There is one recipe that is tried and true in the Cole house, and that's Ina Garten's Graham Cracker Pie Crust. With only three ingredients it's easy and fun to make, the hardest part is crushing the graham crackers!

Graham Cracker Crust
1 1/2 cups graham crackers crumbs (10 crackers)
1/4 cup sugar
6 tablespoons (3/4 stick) unsalted butter, melted

*We like to add a dash of cinnamon (1/4) teaspoon, depending on the type of pie you are making.

Combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar and butter in a bowl. Press into a 9-inch pie pan, making sure the sides and the bottom are an even thickness. Bake 10 minutes. Allow to cool completely.

We hope everyone has a happy and wonderful Thanksgiving! We'll see you on Monday. xo The Coles

Thanksgiving Centerpieces

When planning for Thanksgiving we always want to set a pretty table.
So we have been looking for inspiration for our table.
The idea of using fruit and nuts is very appealing.
It gives a really nice fall color tone for decorating and wonderful texture to the table.
We are thinking that the grapes and pears in the centerpieces
is the direction we are going to go with our table, with large pillar candles.
Are you using any fruit and nuts on your Thanksgiving centerpiece?

Holiday Gift Cards

Gift giving, gift wrap and holiday cards are some of my favorite things.
But when it came to finding a beautiful gift card this year, I came up short.
I've been looking for something simple with a touch of holiday cheer.
And I finally came up with a great idea, a holiday stamp on
gorgeous crane cards. Beautiful and an easy project!

Next week marks the beginning of my favorite time
of year! I will be back up North to celebrate Thanksgiving
for the first time in many years and I can't wait to
wear sequin pumps, tweed jacket, a bright pop of color,
gold post earrings, a gorgeous leather handbag and fall nail polishes.

Time for Pies

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for baking. It is always fun to have an assortment of different pies and tarts at your meal, so that you can have a little taste of everything.

We have put together a little inspiration for your Thanksgiving dessert. Pies and tarts like Cranberry Pear Tart,Vanilla Scented Quince and Pear Pie, Apple Tart, Pumpkin Cheesecake, Marion Berry Pie and Sweet Potato Pie.

Here at home we have the Willing Workers Sale this Saturday and I will be making pies to sell; so of course pies have been on my mind. Hope you enjoy these beautiful images that have given me some great inspiration and maybe some designs to try!

A Favorite: Sara Kate Studios

When it comes to beautiful images and exceptional styling, there is one name that comes to mind every time; Sara Kate Studios has long been one of our favorites! We started following her on Pinterest quite some time ago, and we just adore everything she does. That adoration grew even more when we started following her on Instagram, where she shares personal bits, such as gorgeous vignettes that she lovingly puts together.

We were over the moon when we heard she was opening an online boutique. She is selling her vintage finds with all of us lucky folks! We are certainly looking forward to doing some holiday shopping and we've picked a few of our favorites to share with you. Be sure to head on over to her shop, we just can't get enough!

Look For Less {Bow Flats}

I have been wanting these bow flats ever since I was at the Tory Burch
Boutique a couple of weeks ago. I recently saw these sparkle bow flats
online and thought this was a much better price for me. What do you think?
Would you go for a look for less?

Boxwood Wreaths

Melissa and I were touring around Houston today, visiting West Elm because Cassandra had sweetly given her a gift card for her birthday and she had not yet used it. I have come down to Houston to check the life Melissa has put together for herself. What a great city! She lives up in the Gallery area which is a mecca of great shops and wonderful restaurants. We were in Highland Village which has stores like Z gallery, Quatrine, Mecox Garden, Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware and West Elm, all within a two block area. While in West Elm, we came across a lot of Christmas decorations and one of the items that really stood out to use were these beautiful topiaries made of boxwood in the shape of a square. This neat birch twig door holder was also really classic and fun and allows you to hang a wreath without hammering a hole into your door.
Boxwoods are everywhere in Houston. We have seen so much of it in the beautifully gardens here!

Marin Family Home by Jute

When it comes to design, one things for sure, we love chevron. One thing we love even more than chevron? Any shade of blue. That rang truer than true when we saw Jute Home's new project. A gorgeous home in Marin, California.
We love how simple the bones of the house are, with white walls all around. But the splashes of pattern and color are fantastic. The blue sofa and the kitchen back splash are bold choices but are so spot on!
